Silver Wattle House of Prayer is the home of the House of Prayer Community.
Unfortunately we are unable to host retreats here this year.

Silver Wattle was purchased in April 2005 by the Archdiocese of Canberra Goulburn for the House of Prayer Community and it's ministry, and is located near Canberra on the south western side of Lake George 20 minutes from Bungendore. (Photo thanks to the "Catholic Voice") Directions to Silver Wattle Sadly we do not have the money to build a Chapel and the extra accomidation needed to rebuild the community with younger members. And without younger members we cannot host retreats at this time.

The Community used to occupy the former St Joseph's Girls Orphanage on 50 acres of land bordering the Wollondilly River on the outskirts of Goulburn. St Joseph's House of Prayer became well known in Goulburn as an ecumenical retreat centre for 29 years from 1976 to 2005. It was run by a community of lay people (the House of Prayer Community) for the Catholic Archdiocese of Canberra/Goulburn.

Silver Wattle House of Prayer also has links with other communities through ANOCC, An "Australian Network of Christian Communities." and through connections to other waterholes of community experience.  eg. Shalom House of Prayer at Carcoar in the Central Tablelands, L'Arche Australia, and Wellspring, an ecumenical, dispersed community of people seeking to follow Christ, live prophetically, see God’s presence in each moment and person, and work for reconciliation and peace.
